Wandering Monk Tours – India

Importantly, we have a special blog post on some information on having your wedding in India! We paired this information with some beautiful photography all thanks to Wandering Monk Tours India. Although, if you want to learn more about Wandering Monk, all of their information is below or you can send us an email. Furthermore, we hope you enjoy the amazing photos!

1.The Baraat

The Baraat-Wandering-Monk-ToursFirstly, the Baraat is a procession which includes the Groom and his close family and friends, enroute to the wedding venue. Wandering Monk Tour makes sure that this procession is often accompanied with mobile music systems. Pall bearers carry decorative lights which add bling to the group. The grooms family and friends are bus merrymaking and more often than not dance all the way to the venue, while the groom arrives on a white horse!

2. The Seating

3. The Bride & Groom

Bride-Groom-Wandering-Monk-ToursThe Bride and Groom taking the traditional ‘Saat Phere’ or 7 rounds of a fire lit in the centre(known as ’Havan Kund’), which are also accompanied with 7 promises or vows which they make to each other. Wandering Monk Tours knows that the Fire is one of the most important features of any Hindu Ceremony.

4. Tradition

Bride-Groom-Wandering-Monk-ToursConsequently, this is the wedding couple performing a ritual named ‘Kanyadaan’. ‘Kanya’ stands for an unmarried girl, and ‘daan’ means handing over. This ritual signifies the official handing over of the Bride to the Groom.

5. The Venue

The Venue-Wandering-Monk-ToursFurthermore, this is the Venue for the wedding rituals and reception, and the entrance for the same. Wandering Monk Tours makes sure that the guests are welcomed at the entrance with garlands and the traditional ‘Tika’, a small dot applied on the forehead. Thusly, the Tika is made from mixing Turmeric, Sandalwood and other auspicious elements.

6. The Traditional Haldi

Wandering Monk ToursAdditionally, the ’Haldi’ is a paste created by mixing turmeric, fuller’s earth, sandalwood powder and other element, which aid in beautifying the to-be couple. This paste is usually kept in a brass, copper, or silver bowl. Therefore, it is first offered to the gods for their blessing and then provided to the bride and groom. This ritual takes place in the wee hours of the wedding day.

7. Mehndi

Mehndi-Wandering-Monk-ToursAnother tradition is seen in this photo of the bride being adorned with ’Mehndi’, which is a paste created by crushing a local flower that goes by the same name. This is very similar to a temporary tattoo, albeit one with medicinal values. Although, it is said that there are hidden messages amongst the mehndi patterns they are only meant for the groom’s eyes. It is his job to find these messages on their first night!

In conclusion, it’s fun to learn about other cultures and what companies do to accommodate the traditions that you want for your wedding.

Therefore, Wandering Monks Tours is a great company to help plan the wedding you have always dreamed of in India. Once again, if you have any questions, just give us an email.
